Bandstand Position

4138-Bandstand 7.6m AF 12.08.11 Aged Copper

The Hull City Council has commissioned our Industrial Division to build a bandstand with help from local engineering apprentices. Point has an established work experience and apprenticeship programme and actively supports the engineering training establishments in the city.

Turf has been cut, earth removed and foundations laid in preparation for the structure to be built in Queens Gardens, Hull. The bandstand has been designed with a traditional feel and the project will provide trainees with the opportunity to contribute to the construction of it.

Steve Norton, Managing Director, said “As a company and as individuals, we have always supported the view that young people must be given opportunities to learn a trade with “hands on” experience. Hull Training has supported our apprentices for many years and we’re pleased to be playing a major role in this project for Hull City Council”.

Fire & Blast resistant door (M8-FB)

Fire proof blast door

Point Engineering has launched a new hinged door product in their range of fire and gas resistant units. The new door is designed to resist an overpressure of 800mba (millibars) for 120ms (milliseconds) specifically for use in blast resistant modules and other applicable blast resistance projects offshore and onshore. Point have previously manufactured units for lower pressure blast resistance, however further product development targeting higher pressures has successfully resulted in gaining this latest certification.

Construction is in mild or stainless steel using their tried and tested rebated A60 fire door and “Z” section frame for welding or bolting in to position. Three point latching system with optional escape bar equipment is fitted.

Jonathan Rollison, Sales & Marketing Director, said “Point have been manufacturing and developing fire resistant doors and hatches for many years, this latest development fills a gap at the top of our product range. We’re also pleased to have been approved by LRQA to ISO 9001:2008 and by DNV to the Marine Equipment Directive, MED-D, both demonstrating our commitment to quality manufacturing”.

The company is developing the product range further to include resistant standards for security and defence.
