Quality servicing is all about keeping you running smoothly, efficiently and without interrupting performance. That means anticipating issues and working to protect against them, as well as getting you back up and running when something goes wrong. With Point, it’s also about putting our habit for innovation to good use and identifying improvements you could make, so you can run better than ever.

Straight to the point

Anyone who relies on machinery knows the impact on business when equipment performs poorly. Our customer was feeling the effects of reduced capacity and engineers had failed to identify the problem. A pub conversation finally led to an answer, when Steve stepped in and got straight to the point.

Our customer had been waiting seven weeks for engineers to solve the problem that saw a key piece of equipment working at just 65% capacity. Over a post-work pint one evening, a member of staff there was talking to a friend who happens to be one of design engineers. A few days later, they called us to ask for our help.

The machine, which missed animal feed, required round the clock running seven days a week to keep up with orders. Bearings and shafts had been replaced, but the machine still wasn’t up to speed and that drop in productivity was causing real damage.

We were invited to go and see if we could fix what others clearly couldn't. The machine's motor still ran but it stalled. Steve took a good look and with a mix of insight, judgment and instinct looked into the fluid coupling, thinking that could be causing the fault. Within a few hours of his visit the machine was running smoothly again, at full capacity. The cost of our repair was a small fraction of the value that the customer got from the machine's return to full capacity, and staff got their weekends back.

Since that visit, we have been invited back to site to propose ways in which further improvements to output and productivity can be achieved using other forms of mechanisation.
