Point Engineering (Hull) Ltd is a specialist engineering & manufacturing business in the Point Group of companies undergoing expansion.

A successful application for a slice of the “Growing the Humber” RGF grant, supported by HSBC and capital investment  from the business means that the company will add new space, new equipment, boost capability, improve productivity and create more local jobs.

Jonathan Rollison, Financial Director, said “This is another significant event in the history of our business which will secure existing and create further jobs for people in Hull. We were delighted that the Humber LEP approved our application which held up to scrutiny and was subsequently accepted by NE Lincolnshire council who facilitate the release of the funding. HSBC have been very helpful through the whole process and I commend their diligence and support, without which our business would not be as strong. The Point Group has invested continually in Hull and now operates from more than 10,000 sqm of factory, yard, storage and office space to become one of the largest engineering firms in the region. We are very aware of the significant opportunity that the recent Siemens announcement will bring to the area and knowing now that wind turbine and blade manufacturing will be on our door step will drive us in working hard to support local industry.”

Preparations to extend existing premises on Lee Smith Street have started and new premises have been acquired on adjacent Haller Street. Following a program of conversion, new equipment will be installed and a new department created to improve existing product manufacturing and serve new markets and customers. Proximity to the Green Port Hull development on Alexandra Dock is ideal to provide engineering support during the build and operational stages of the program to deliver turbines to the Hornsea offshore wind farm.

The Point range of Marine and Flood Doors are designed to protect people and industrial assets from the environment at sea and on land and these are manufactured on Lee Smith Street. Mechanical and Electrical Engineering services are provided from the same site for industrial clients in the utilities, chemicals, manufacturing and renewables sectors. Point builds medium size fabrications in steel, aluminium and stainless steel and will project manage from concept to completion. Sub contract welding, machining and assembly services for larger scale projects requiring approved and certified skills from a reputable source are managed by our team of Project Managers, Project Engineers and 3D CAD Design Engineers. On site coded welding, precision assembly & fitting service completes the one stop offering. The new premises will house precision hot and cold steel cutting and forming equipment.

The Point Engineering Group of companies combines specialist engineering knowledge, skills, resources and equipment to offer clients a one stop point of contact for batch manufacturing, turnkey projects and engineering services. Since January 2001 Point has grown year on year to a business employing over 70 local people providing products and services nationally and internationally. The Head Office base for Point and its original core services remain on Lee Smith Street in East Hull, just across Hedon Road from Alexandra Dock.
